Hello, my Sennheiser HD201 headphones just broke after a year, and I need a new pair of headphones, the audio quality was decent and base was thick, they were also great as they went around my ear. I am now looking for the same style (over the ear headphones - closed) with great SQ and to be used with MP3 players (the only bad thing about the HD201's was the 3m cord). I am looking to spend £20-£40 and not sure what to get. I don't want in-ear etc only normal headphone style headphones.

Newest issue of Consumer Reports rated headphones, but they're not into snooty brand names, they just care about actual quality:
    best noise-cancelling: Sony MDR-NC500D
    best full-sized: Grado SR80i
best in-the-ear: Altec Lansing BackBeat Titanium UHP326

dunno if any of those are available across the pond, but the interwebs make it easier to find stuff from far away lands.

you only recommended brand names, I looked at a few of the Denon ones however some haven't been reviewed yet so I don't know what to expect, although the Denon AH-P372 headphones look pretty good.

Stats and reviews can only tell you so much. You have to try them out to see how the feel and sound to you.

oh alright, but there's nowhere in the UK where you can test out headphones, hmv have a few but thats it, all I can count on are interviews at the moment. I don't want to be buying and exchanging headphones for months until I find the right pair.
