In a local race, the written published speech by a candidate mentions that "in Chinese, the word of crisis is the same as opportunity". Knowing how stupid people are with sayings and cliches -- not to mention e-mail forward chain letters that are already flagged as crap on snopes.com -- I called bullshit and looked it up.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_word_for_%22crisis%22

I'm not voting for this dumbass.
If this person cannot do simple research, why would I trust him or her to do a good job with anything else?

HAH! He probably saw it on the Simpsons when Lisa told Homer that the Chinese use the same word for crisis that they use for opportunity - his reply was "mmm crisitunity".

If it's on TV it must be true!

My newest is obtongular. My wife hates it when I make words up, but I recently caught her using obtongular.
