    I have a Sony DCR-SR100 with 30GB. This unit has a viewfinder.
    I also have a Sony DCR-SR220 with 60GB, but it doesn't have a viewfinder.

I like to use the viewfinder, in preference to a LCD Screen, when recording; but I like to have the 60GB storage.

So, is it possible for someone (not me...but a technician) to do some parts switching/swapping, so that I can change the SR100 with the 30GB to take the 60GB harddrive capacity, so I can have the greater capacity and also the viewfinder? (That would also mean that my SR220 without the viewfinder would get the 30GB capacity.)

If this can be done, it would save me having to buy another (more expensive) camera with a larger capacity and a viewfinder.

Sounds simple to me - but is it possible to do it?

If so, where would I get it done?

If not, what prevents it from being done?

Many thanks in advance to all the "buffs" with the knowledge to advise me.

I think that it's unlikely it would work as the firmware on the two cameras is likely different and neither may recognize the other's HDD. And working on one of those types of cameras is akin to repairing a watch. Lots of small parts and easily damaged connection cables.

It still may be possible, but not worth the risk, IMO. But others here may be more familiar with those particular cameras.

    And welcome to our forums.
