i need to get information from my hm200 made by jvc to sony vegas. I am having a very hard time.
    software that came with camera:
the camera came with software that requires me to download itunes, and i am allowed to use the clips after i use that software. but after i am done using that software, my clips look like they came from a camera phone. yes they look that bad!

please tell me the simplest way without killing the quality.

also, i am not good with computers or software so please explain it to me like i am a two year old.

this is what kind of videos i make, i am a profesional unicyclist.

  4. What you want are the MTS files produced by the camera. However, those may not be easy to edit directly in Vegas.

First things first: you need to get the MTS files onto your computer. If the camera uses SD cards like I think it does, you can simply remove the SD card and put it in an SD card reader, and put that into your computer. Otherwise, if the camera offers a USB connection, you should be able to plug it into your computer (without running any additional software like iTunes) and have it appear as a new drive. Both ways, you'll be transferring the files over via Windows Explorer.

Once you've gotten the MTS files over, you can try importing them into Vegas and see how it works out. If you find (as many have) that you can import them but editing is very difficult due to choppiness and general slowness, you'll need to convert the MTS files to a less-compressed format. Soopafresh made a package to do a conversion using free tools, here:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic346331.html

Choose "1920x1080 Same as Source". The output will be an AVI which can be easily edited in mostly any editor, at the original 1080 resolution (assuming that's what your video started at).

Note that this method will require a *lot* of free HD space, so try converting only short clips first in case you run out of space while converting a big clip.
