Unfortunately i cannot post anything or pte msg anyone until 5 days after registering.

The reason why i mentioned this tool is that it splits mkv files into dvd5, 9 or custom sizes probably faster than ATi or nividia's transcoder programs.

It also managed to divide a file i had at 10GB size into 2 4.3GB parts equally.

Now if it can do that it means that it is actually encoding this 10Gb file of mine and dividing it into 2 dvd 5 sizes in a matter of minutes, like maybe 20 mins, don't you agree?


I need a program that is more flexible than this, which means it can encode files into any sizes not merely break them apart. This program is only meant to encode a file into 2 smaller sizes.


Does anyone know of such a program or maybe you can contact the person Dean on my behalf who created this program Dean and ask him about it.

From what I have been reading in the Doom9 thread, it doesn't re-encode, it only splits. The tools that it is based on don't have transcoding capabilities.

There are plenty of tools for re-encoding, so unless you can be more specific in your requirements, I am not sure what to suggest, other than to spend some time in the tools section (menu option to your left)

OKay but if it only splits how come i can get 2 dvd5 sized files out of a 10.1GB file?


2 dvd5 = 4.35 x2 = 8.7 GB

10.1 /2 = around 5GB

u see what i mean. Doesn't it re-encode the file to dvd9 and split into 2?

U should try it with a file much larger or say smaller like 6GB and select the dvd5 option. It's pretty fast too.

mkv files can contain a lot of crap that is not included when going to bluray format, which is part of what this tools does. Secondly, even on a fast, multi-core machine, H264 encoding is a time consuming business. If your time estimates are correct, then encoding is still out of the question.

okay i finally realized it probably does only split up files.

SO i split that 10GB file i had into 2 dvd5 parts. I realised that the last part of the movie is gone. Yet i could only find 2 halves. It split it into 2 halves and discarded the final 1.2GB of the film away.

If you read the author's site it clearly says that it is limited to two parts. So it takes the first DVD5 sized chunk, then a second DVD5 sized chunk, then drops the rest. You would have to re-encode separately first to get the size down, then split it.
