Composite to S-Video requires a Y/C separator (e.g. notch filter or comb filter).

The AVT-8710 is one of the best composite-to-svideo converters I've ever used. Terrific job of
output, and when I first started recording VHS for DVD it was the only way I had to get my
VCR's composite output into my capture card's s-video input. There was a very slight
improvement when I starting using my DVD recorders as pass-thru devices (composite-in,
s-video out). The only difference I saw with the AVT-8710 was a slight loss in contrast using
composite in, but the AVT's contrast control handled that easily.
