clip from dat (movie) file

how can I cut a clip from a *.dat movie file of same quality? I have tried VCD cutter but it converts the clips to MPEG and also sopils the quality as well.

You can use VCD Gear to convert the DAT file to MPEG (of the same quality), cut out the clip you want, then convert it back to dat (if you want to do that).

If you want to create a VCD from the dat clip you cut, you can leave it in MPG format and use NERO burming rom to create the VCD.
