  1. Are the digital Frames supposed to implemetnt video playback capabilities?

I just ordered the Toshiba Journe AIR 1000 in hopes that it does. IT says it can handle avi and mov but i think only from motion jpeg fromat (jpeg4).

Is this the only way or can it handle compressed format (mpeg4) in particularly is mostly what i care about.

Otherwise i will have to cancel this order. Converting every file to jpeg4 for such use will be a hassle.

    "JPEG 4" sounds a bit strange...maybe they mean mpeg 4 like divx/xvid but I don't know.

  3. I really hope that they meant that but there's no much possibility for that.

It's the first i'm hearing of jpeg4 but i guess it should be a video format resulting from a combination of images. After all a digital frame is supposed to display pictures mainly.

I dont even know what hardware these devices use, and if they're strong enough to decode compressed video.

I only need it for playback of standard definition of xvid/divx files.

  4. With jpeg4 probably they mean some kind of proprietary motion jpg (M-JPG) but i read the manual of AIR 801 slightly lower model and it supports mpeg1/2/4 so why shouldn't the 1000 i hope? Although on the AIR 1000 manual there's no mention of what it supports for some strange reason.

This is a portion i cropped from the pdf with the supported formats.
