    hi!

Usually when creating a new DVD-project (using GfD) I burn it into a 4,7 GB DVD+-R(W)...now I wonder if I instead buy a 8GB DVD will I be able to burn a large project into it as well? I mean is there any difference between burning a 4,7 and 8 GB DVD? Will every DVD-bruner be able to burn 8GB DVD's? If not how do I check if mine is able to do this?

    thankfull for answers

  2. The difference is the amount of data that the disc will hold. The 4.7 is single layer. The other is dual layer. As long as the size does not exceed the disc, it does not matter what you write to it. If it is a dual layer burner, it will write to dual layer discs.
Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief.

I don't know if anyone makes DVD burners that can't burn DL discs, but it was possible 5+ years ago to find burners that could only burn single layer discs.

I'd strongly recommend the use of ImgBurn for DL burning. Other programs may lead to bad burns. ImgBurn is free by the way. If your burner isn't capable of burning DL discs, ImgBurn will refuse to burn it.

Finally, the ONLY reliable DVD+R DL discs are those by Verbatim. Do NOT buy any other DL discs or you will likely have problems.
