  1. I was in the process of doing a disk copy of a VCD with Nero when I got a LOT of these errors:

    ****************
    8:33:39 PM #7 CDCOPY -11 File CDCopy.cpp, Line 3388
    Warning: EDC, ECC Error at
    72:14.00

    8:33:39 PM #8 CDCOPY -11 File CDCopy.cpp, Line 3388
    Warning: EDC, ECC Error at
    72:18.49
    *****************
Identical errors continued up to 78:30:11 (for a total of 222 errors), but the disk copy continued and said it completed successfully. Both the original and the copy seem to play fine in my dvd player, so what does this error mean?

    Thanks,
    TP

  2. It means that at those sectors, there were unrecoverable (by your drive and Nero) read errors. Luckily for you, VCDs are quite tolerant of mild errors which is probably why it didn't affect playback.

  3. Ok, of the 4 cd VCD movie...disks 2 and 3 gave these errors while imaging...however, the copies will copy with no errors...

So, I imaged disk 2 multiple times, and each time I got errors - but never in the exact same time coordinates. The errors are always toward the end of the disk, but the positions reported are not the same each time...

Because of this, I began making test images of other VCD's Ive burned - none gave any errors, and they are all on the same media.

So should I dump these two cd's that give errors when copied?
Did I just get a couple of bum blank cd's?
I'm new to this so...Is this common or uncommon?

    Thanks,
    TP

  4. Anyone?

I'm really worried about these errors...can I blame the media, or is something going wrong with my Plextor?

  5. It is probably a combination of factors: the media, your drive, the particular burn, scratches on the disc, etc.

If you try to extract an image of the discs with another burner, you may not get any errors at all...

If the end result is that the copied discs look fine, I wouldn't worry too much about it. VCDs like audio CDs don't have ECC like on CD-ROMs and are much more subject to slight errors like this. However, unlike CD-ROMs, a slight error usually isn't significant on play back.

If you've had some experience copying audio CDs, occasionally there will be audio CDs that you won't be able to copy perfectly either for similar reasons.
