source filter error (Error=80040241) when playing HR Avi

I've downloaded this movie and it's an HR HTDV Xvid.
now, I can play it fine using divx player (the one that comes with the codec), but it won't play in wmp (directshow problem?? the error above).
The reason is that I want to convert it to a divx or else, so I can view it with my divx player (the chip doesn't support HR, maybe the newest will) and I can't open it neither in virtualdub or winnydows which I use.

so, is it a codec thing? a directshow thing (tried to update)? or maybe something else?

ok, I downloaded it but it creates a 500mb file, poor quality and I can't make the bitrate higher (and the file still won't play in wmp).

any thoughts??

and btw- why was it moved?? it's not a conversion problem. it's wmp backplay problem.....

I got a decent reply from a different forum.
it was a codec thing. insalled the Klite codec package and all is fine.
