    I have a Sony Handycam DCR-HC42 NTSC and it is telling me to re-insert the tape. I have done that a few times but I keep getting the same message.

    Any ideas?

    My guess is dirty heads or faulty loading mechanism. Have a camcorder service guy give an estimate.
