  1. I would like to copy just some scenes from the dvd and make a vcd(of those scenes) with chapters. Please do also let me know what softwares would I need for the entire process??

  2. Use dvd decrypter to get all the files off your dvd by going to edit and selecting 'all' then when you have the whole movie on HD use dvdx and select the largest file. Make sure you know how long your scene is and choose the maximum frame in the output settings, (how big this is determines how long your clip will be, 10000 i think is about 30 seconds).

    When you have selected all your preferences for input and output (I leave them as they are and dont fiddle) there is a display screen at the bottom with a slider, if you move the slider along the movie moves with it, stop the slider when you want your scene to start and the amount of frames you have put in will determine when it stops encoding that part of the movie. Then press encode. Voila there you have it, it may take a couple of goes to get the length right but if you start off with a small clip you wont waste much time getting it right :P

  3. Just use SmartRipper to rip the DVD. When you open up SmartRipper (the dvd should already be in the drive), it will list all of the chapters. Just check off the ones that you want. The software programs that you will need are the following:

    SmartRipper
    DVD2AVI
    TMPGEnc
