Ok, I'm going to do my best to explain the problem I'm having. I have a jvc everio gz-hd7 which I occassionaly backup the files to my pc. Some of the files that I backed up a few months ago are only giving me the date that I backed them up on. So now I have no idea when I actually shot the videos. The created date and the modified date are the same, and I am assuming that they are taking the date that I backed the files up and I've lost the original. I haven't modified the files at all other than them being backed up again to an external hd, and the original files from the camcorder and the original pc hd have been deleted. I used the Cyberlink software provided with the cam and it is showing the same date that windows shows. I called JVC and they were no help. Is there any way to tell the original date of the files? They are .tod files.
I just backed up the latest videos from the cam and they are showing the date they were shot on correctly. This is very frustrating because the files are of the kids and it would be nice to know when they were taken. Thanks in advance.

  3. well, it may be that there isn't much that can be done. .tod files are mpegs in disguise so there isn't any data stream with time/date info. once the file's date is changed it can't be recovered.

if you haven't emptied your recycle bin maybe the originals are still in there.
