  1. Hi,

I've used the Boilsoft Video Joiner for awhile and it's done the job. I put things up on youtube, and I use the product to join various videos from my digital HD camcorder.

I noticed recently that the beginning of some clips that are joined together are missing the first, say, 5 seconds or so. This will happen if I join just two files together or as many as 10. The only common element I can see is the affected clips are usually short ones - less than 10 seconds in duration.

Has anybody experienced this? Any ideas how to fix the problem? I email Boilsoft, but no response.

Thanks in advance for any help out there.

  2. Ok, I tried to join the same clips using a different program - AVS Video Editor 4. To my surprise, it works. I much prefer Boilsoft's product, however - it joins the files MUCH faster.

Am I SOL? Is there any way to use Boilsoft AND not have the beginning of clips cut off? These clips were taken with the same camcorder, so the rate, resolution, etc. all match.

    Thanks.

hi m8, i use boilsoft joiner to join Xvid files together, especially Xvid movie rips (my own)

i also film using a DV cam and output to mpeg2 at 8000br using tmpgenc xpress, and usually i use tmpgenc mpeg editor to cut or join these files, because it simply is a far better and dedicated mpeg2 editing tool, but i have used boilsoft joiner to join mpeg2 files (both long and short) and never have a problem.

and your right, its fast and very easy to use.

not sure whats happening in your case.

  4. hey i just tried "Video Edit Master 1.8" and man it shits all over boilsoft for accuracy, i got Xvid files and chopped them up and they cut them where i marked them, both at the start and the end.

downside is if you have a file that needs to be cut into 2 or more parts, you must import the source file, select the first clip you want to cut, then output that first and then do the second clip then output and so on.

i tried cutting up my footage and as i did each bit i added it to the story board and hit the produce movie button and it produced 1 single movie with the missing bits removed.

but i got it to work and its great.

EDIT: dam just when i thought this was frame accurate, it flopped a bit on a 720x400 H264 avi, missed the start cut by 4 frames, so it actually output the file with the video starting 4 frames after the actual frame i selected to start on, but like boilsoft, the ends are always spot on.

having said that, the 720x400 divX and Xvid files i cut up so far all have been frame accurate, both start and end, so i think ill cont to use this tool and see how it goes joining multiple files together.

may have to get rid of boilsoft afterall.

EDIT 2: here is the error i get trying to join 2x 720x400 divX movie file that i got from the same place.
it was obvious it might not work because of different bitrates or sampling rates, just like boilsof used to do.
