just wondering if someone could give me a hand here.
i converted an avi into vcd using Nero (i know i know), because the avi was ripped with an audio format not compatible with VirtualDUB or TMPGEnc. i can get it to play on my dvd player but i am having some quality problems with it where the movie blotches up about every 5 seconds, and it gets very annoying. the original avi on my drive does not behave this way, so i'm thinking it may be the cd i burned it on (Sony CD-R playing on a Sony DVD player).
has anyone come across this and maybe suggest some settings i change?
it looks similar to a streamed video, but only for a split second every 5 secs, then after that, it's perfecto.
    the vcd is 640x272 25fps 44.1kHz audio.

    thanks in advance.

  2. If your VCD really has those specs, it may simply be because you've made an XVCD and your player can't quite handle it... Does it play well on your PC?

Also, do ordinary VCDs play properly?

    Regards.

yea i can play normal vcd's no problem, but that's only when i use the basic multiplex in TMPGEnc, then take the mpg into VCDEasy using 'Enable CDRDAO Integration'. i have no problem using the similar method converting SVCD to VCD by unflagging 'Default CD-i Application', which works like a dream.

i have followed the Divx to VCD tutorial, and these are the steps i have taken (please tell me if i am doing something wrong):
i open the avi in TMPGEnc and load the VideoCD (PAL) since the file is 25fps.
    Video Settings:
    Video Source Type: Non-Interlaced
Field Order: Even Field First (Field Order A)
    Source Aspect Ratio: 1:1 VGA
Image Positioning Method: Fit to Frame (preserve aspect ratio)

at this point i now have my mpg and load it into VCDEasy, and burn it as a normal VCD. The video still pixelates and blotches up with occasional green blocks and stained cells of old video when i continue play.

any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated here, because i am still having a hard time trying to figure all this stuff out and i'm not even sure what my problem is exactly.

    thanks
