A few years ago, I bought the Sony MiniDV DCR-TRV22 after getting some good advice here. Now, my parents are looking for a good camcorder ... and one quality they like in my model is the analog to digital pass through capability (converting old analog/vhs to digital/DVD). I'm having a hard time finding this specific capability listed in current models though. Does anybody know if this is still available/common in today's camcorders? If so, does anybody know any specific models we could look at? Thanks very much!

Thanks for the 2 choices. I notice that these camcorders are HD and in the $800 range. Does anybody know any less expensive camcorders with pass through? Thanks.

JVC GZ-MG155 is one of these if you can still find this 2007 model in stores. Has only composite (S-Video is just for ouput) and will convert in mpeg2. Can shot only in SD but it is cheaper .

    From camcorderinfo.com review:
"However, the GZ-MG155’s AV jack supports both in and out connectivity. In this price range, the GZ-MG155 and its siblings are the only camcorders to offer analog input – an increasing rate commodity as analog slips into the past. The AV jack is switched between input and output in the Main menu."

One list with analog to digital pass through capability camcorders:
