    Is anyone aware of a "hard drive camcorder" that will record from an external analog signal to its Hard drive in mpeg2?

    I haven't been keeping up with SD only models.

    I only need standard definition with this feature. Do you have any recommendations for real time MPG2 encoding using an external hardware device? I'm looking for something < $500

    The Hauppauge PVR-USB2 is a well respected model.

    It is similar to the PVR-250 internally.
