Do they make a high def version of the Pinnacle Video Transfer unit?

I know all about the hauppuage hd pvr. It seems great to be able to get high def and 5.1 and all. However I hate the idea of having to move my computer to the room with my cable hd dvr (motorola model via comcast). - Edit - and yes I know about capping via firewire but that is troublesome with some apparent drm type stuff and still requires a pc in the same room.
This model by pinnacle records to h264 but only does analog capture and only does standard def. I'd like a model that does this standalone but with high def via component if possible and with 5.1. Does that exist?

AFAIK, not yet. All this needs are very new. Eventually we gonna see many products, but right now, I don't know something.
 It would be interest me.

Also I don't have great rate success with pinnacle's solutions...

I've heard that with the Avid/Pinnacle merge they're getting out of the hardware business and that Hauppauge is picking up that product line. Here's an example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815116042

Well I wasn't saying it had to be pinnacle. It was just the sample I was using.Originally Posted by satstorm

The hauppauge hd pvr is a great idea. I just want a version of it that would connect to a usb/firewire/esata harddrive and operate without a computer.

Almost like a hd pvr in itself but with unencrpyted high def compressed or lossy compressed formats. Be it h264 or even mpeg2 high def a la bluray.

I guess there will be something eventually.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
