I am looking to find a really good deal on a Sony HVR-Z1U. Is there anyone that knows where I can get killer deals (besides ebay). I am looking to shoot several documentaries and a movie. I would love feedback because although I am purchasing this item for my main camera outfit first I am also looking for suggestions on a secondary camera and ofcourse I'm looking for killer deals. Thank you for your input.

  2. the only "deals" i've seen are kind of shady ebay auctions. you can never be sure it's a usa model with a warranty. if it were me i'd go with b&h.

    New or used?

Are you sure you need the Z1U (pro microphones).?

Better deals can be found for the similar FX1 then you can add a Beachtek audio adapter.

I didn't know that we could add an audio adaptor to the FX1! If that's an option I think I would definitely consider the FX1. Is the fx1 similar to the Z1u?

Do you (edDV) know where I can get a good deal on one. I don't mind used equipment.

I don't know if this a "dumb" question or not but can we do over cranking (to achieve a slow motion affect) on the fx1?

    Where are you? www.Craigslist.org

There are probably ten FX1's for every Z1U out there.

Would have to do your "overcrank" in post.
