I captured and edited some video using Premiere 6.01 and Pinnacle's DC1000. I then exported the edited video using Premiere 6.01 and the DC1000 into an MPEG file and a WAV file. Once this was done, I imported the video and audio into Adobe Encore to author. All went well. I created a DVD Folder and then burned using RecordNow DX.

I played the burned DVD in my Sony DVD player and it played fine. I then took it to my Samsung combo unit and it would skip and jump. It did the same in my Go Video combo unit.

I then took the same MPEG and WAV files and authored using my old copy of DVDIt. It worked great in all three of my DVD players.

I really would like to start using Encore, but need to know that the final DVD will be compatible with most DVD players.

    Any suggestions???

  2. For now, I use Encore for all my DVD authoring needs. It has a lot of features that most DVD authoring tools dont have, and is perfectly compatible with Photoshop and Premiere. I love it, the only thing I dont love is the bugs. The programs is buggy as heck which will probably cause you to pull your hair out a lot of times. You need to make sure you always backup your work because Encore crashes often and corrupts some aspects of your project, such as subtitles, menu settings, etc. And if youre project gets too complicated, it will run sloowwwwww if you dont have "ATLEAST" 512mb of memory

As for compatibility, there hasnt been any problems on that end for me atleast. Although, I did burn a project on a DVD RW and when a freind played it on her samsung DVD player it was constantly skipping. So I think its just a problem with the samsung and not the DVD software.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks for the reply.

I have not had any problems with bugs, but do have this compatibility problem. Why can I use the exact same DVD-RW disc and author from DVDIt (using the exact same MPEG and WAV files) and it will play in my Samsung but when authored from Encore it will not.

    Go figure...

Thanks again for the reply. I really do want Encore to work, because it does have so many more features....

You are soooo right! I'm writing this 5 years later, it's now called CS3 but the problem is still the same ... that is why i'm reading your post. I am MAD at adobe now, realising they haven't done anything for the last 5 years!
