I am using Tmpgenc Athoring Works and wish to convert a series of TV card captures done 2 years ago in SVCD format (480 x 576) to a DVD format. When i input the files into the authoring program i find that the output cli chosen by the program is 704 x 576. I have always though tht DVD format should be 720 x 576.
What will be the output difference on a dvd palyer if i do choose the 704 x 576 setting?
Yes i know i can force a recode to 720 x 576 but can someone please explain the menaing of the present issue?

704x576 is also a dvd compliant size, https://www.videohelp.com/dvd#tech , so it should work fine on dvd players.

4:3 aspect broadcast source works out to 702-704x576 for DVD at SD PAL PAR

720x576 gets you 8 pixel black left and right.

If you stretch to 720, interpolation quality loss kicks in.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
