Hi there,
I want to shift a chapter point slightly forward (about 7 frames) but I don't want to reauthor the DVD.
Is it possible to do that? Maybe with IfoEdit? If so, how? (I don't know IfoEdit well).
Thanks.

7 frames? You know chapter points can only be set on I-Frames, don't you, and they come roughly every half a second (or roughly every 12-13 frames if for PAL). Therefore, you often can't choose exactly where you want the chapter point (although a scene change is usually pretty safe) unless you pick it before encoding (and that's not such a good idea, in my opinion, at least for NTSC, which is my format).
Anyway, when I want to change them I demux (PGCDemux), edit the Celltimes.txt to put the chapter closer to where I want it, remux (Muxman), and then replace the edited video back into the original, keeping the menus and anything else it might have (VobBlanker). This is, of course, reauthoring, but perhaps not the way you meant it (recreating menus).
You can also create a new cell by splitting chapters using VobBlanker, but probably not exactly 7 frames from the current one. -
Thanks manono.
I made the authoring of this DVD and set the chapter points.
All but one are fine.
In one case the chapter point is slightly before the scene change (of about 7 frames), this resulting in an unpleasant effect to watch.
The method you suggest surely will work, I was wondering if it could be done simply editing some value into IfoEdit. -
Hehe, I change them all the time, but I check them before muxing in the first place, and again after muxing with Muxman. I know of no way to change them on a finished DVD without demuxing and editing the Celltimes.txt. If there is a way, using IFOEdit, PGCEdit, or VobBlanker, then someone else will have to explain. Sorry.
