file length problem

i am having problems with a file i downloaded, it was a torrent of 3 movies, although they were seperate files.
Two of the files i managed to convert sucsesfully, it is just the first of the three that is the problem.

When i add it to convertx2dvd it comes up with the duration of the film as 274mins. Also when i open the file properties it comes up with the duration as 4 and a bit hours.

When i play it on vlc the duration comes up as 1:32mins which is what it should be.

I think i know what the problem is but i dont know how to fix it, the total running time of all three films is 274mins which is also what comes up when i try to convert the firts of the three films.

Anybody know what can be done to fix this?

If an avi divx/xvid try fix it using divfixpp.

If a mkv/mp4 then try open it in avidemux and save as a new new mkv/mp4.

Or if it's commercial movies then just BUY or RENT them.
