Hi.
I am trying to burn a DVD from an AVI or MOV file. I encoded it to DVD mpeg2enc using ffmpegX 0.0.9y, following exactly the instructions found on http://homepage.mac.com/major4/dvd_sub.html (skipping the subtitles part).
The problem is when I use Apple DVD Player to preview the result, it runs very very slowly (as if on slow motion). And when I burn the DVD using Disk Utility, the DVD won't play on a regular DVD player. It plays for about 4 seconds and then it just stops (as if on pause).
I tried searching for previous posts but found nothing like this...
Thanks a lot

The problem with your output file may be due to misinterpretation while reading your source file. It is likely caused by decoding.
ffmpegX's mpeg2enc conversion engine allows for three different decoders in the Options tab.
- Decode with Quicktime
- Decode with mplayer
- Decode with ffmpeg (neither one of the above selected)
If you don't like the result when using one particular decoder, you may try one of the others. Perhaps one of the others does a better job.

Ok. So I tried decoding with Quicktime, mplayer and ffmpeg, but the same thing happened everytime. I also noticed that the process stops at 98% every time, stalls there for a while, and then suddenly completes the process. Also, the sound won't play when viewing the product with Apple DVD Player...
I hope someone can help me!!
Thanks!

Please tell us more about your source file. Right now we only know that it has an .avi suffix.
What does the ffmpegX Summary say about the video and audio characteristics? What are the video and audio codecs? What is the framerate?
Perhaps the Process Information log can also provide some insight in what exactly happened when trying to convert. Click the blue "i" in the Progress window after a conversion to access the log.
