  1. Hi all,

Ripping Blu-Ray is not easy as ripping DVD obviously, each rip is always a new story. I'm now struggling with
an audio delay problem which could be caused by a corrupted movie length.

I have a movie composed of a video track encoded in H264 (.264 container) and several AC3 files for sound.
Playing the video and the sound separately works fine with media player classic but once brought together
the sound goes out of sync in a quite irregular way, sometimes it's sync, some times not. I have noticed
that the length for the video file was completely wrong, it indicates 25h+ while the movie only lasts for 2h.
I suspect this is the cause of my problems but I don't see how I can correct this.

Here is what I usually do:
Demux M2TS from blu-ray to my hard drive (with TSmuxer)
select the files I need (usually 1 video track, 1 sound track and 1 subtitle file)
Mux sound and video together in M2TS (with TSmuser again)
Convert M2TS to MKV (with HD Video converter)
This works in most of the cases but in this particular situation, the sound goes out of sync after the muxing
of sound and video into one big M2TS.

The following thing works (almost) fine:
Use Video HD encoder to load directly the M2TS file from the disk and have it converted on the fly to MP4 on my HD
The only issue I have with this, is that this nice piece of software selects the first audio track on its way and in this case
I end up with a movie in German (with no audio delay).

So I basically have two directions:
    1. Solve the remuxing problem
    2. Find out how HD video converter selects the audio track and make sure it's selecting the one I want

Any idea of how I can solve this puzzle?

    Thanks!

What is HD Video Converter / Video HD encoder??? Xilisoft, imtoo, or what?

I use Ripbot264 for my blu-ray to mkv,mp4 conversions. Or if you don't need to shrink it you can remux to mkv using mkvmerge or use makemkv.

  3. hi Baldrick,

it's from Xilisoft indeed, I don't use Ripbot because it's so slow and it often crashes on my Vista x64. I do need to shrink, I want to store my movies in my living room for my mediacenter. It usually works the way I described but once in a while, one of my disks escapes the ripping.

    thanks

I'm sorry but I can't help with xilisoft and I refuse to touch anything from them. (they have spammed our forum for several years now... )

Another option would be to shrink using bdrebuilder and then remux to ts,mkv.

  5. I'm sorry I didn't know that but Xilisoft was only one of the two options I had. Obviously, the audio delay problem occurs before using Xilisoft in my first method. I'll have a look at bdrebuilder, I didn't know this one.

    Thanks!

  6. Do problems occur after using tsmuxer to remux the 1 video/1 audio/1 sub ? i.e. does that modified .m2ts play normally? Are you using anydvd?

Some blu-ray titles have audio gaps leading to bizzare a/v sync issues, and you can't just use that method. One way to fix the audio gaps is to run it through eac3to which will fix the gaps.

  7. poisondeathray, the problem indeed occurs after remuxing sound and video with TSmuxer. The M2TS file plays fine, only the audio goes mad sometimes. I'm indeed using AnyDVD.

What do you mean with gaps? I also tried to convert the AC3 file to a new one using Eac3to but it didn't help. Is there something I should know about eac3to to solve this kind of problem?

    thanks!
