It has been a while since I have messed with converting video, so sorry that I am not up to date on everything.

I have and tried using TMPGenc for my conversion from a PAL avi to a NTSC mpg. It worked but the video was jerky.

Question is what is the best tool for conversion from PAL to NTSC without being jerky or is there a setting in TMPGenc to fix this?? I have TMPGenc version 4.0.

    thanks!

An AviSynth script frameserved into your encoder of choice.

You're probably just duplicating frames to go from 25fps to 29.97fps, which would account for the jerkiness. Maybe there's a setting in TMPGEnc to do it properly, if you're just opening the AVI in it, but I wouldn't know as I don't use TMPGEnc.

You could also encode as ###X480 @ 25 fps, and later
apply DGpulldown to insert the appropriate repeat-field flags.
