  1. I am running DVD Decrypter and DVD shrink (have so for a few years), with no issues when compressing discs down to 4.7.

Yesterday, for the 1st time I bought some Dual Layer discs. In DVD shrink, under preferences, I set to 8.5.

After Shrink, when I go back into DVD Decryter and start burning I continue to get error messages halfway through the burn process. It's not a problem with the source disc, as if I compress the source file down for a 4.7 disc, it burns just fine.

Is there some other setting under DVD Decryptor or DVD shrink I need to set so I can burn onto a Dual Layer without any compression. I've already made 3-4 DL coasters, and I'd like to see if I can get this to work.

    Thanks in advance.

You need to upgrade your burning software from DVD Decrypter to Imgburn, by the same author. It handles layer breaks properly.

If you are not using Verbatim DVD+R DL media, that could be part of your problem too. According to those here who use DL, they are the only reliable discs made.

    nchd,

Since you say "I continue to get error messages halfway through the burn process", it sounds like you're running into the problem at the layer break (where the data starts being written to the second layer of the disk). The two most likely causes of the problem would be:

    1) The dual layer media you're using isn't up to the job. If that's the case, following usually_quiet's advice to use Verbatim DVD+R DL media would eliminate that as being a problem.

    2) If you're outputting an ISO from Dvd Shrink, don't do that. You should only output a VIDEO_TS - AUDIO_TS structure from Dvd Shrink for dual layer. Also, while DvdDecrypter can burn dual layer correctly (when not using a Dvd Shrink ISO), it doesn't do it optimally. For that you should absolutely be using ImgBurn. If you're not familiar with how to best do that, here's a guide written by the author of DvdDecrypter and ImgBurn. It may seem complicated the first time or two you follow the guide, but it quickly becomes second nature.

If you're still having a problem when using Verbatim +RDL media and ImgBurn, paste the burn log here, and we should be able to figure out what's going wrong.

I see this was your first post here, so welcome to VideoHelp.
