Got a very good used sony F717 camera from work but it has a display error

Just like the title says, I got this camara from where I work in goodwill last month, I was finally able to a new rechargable battery for it and a charger for 7.99 on ebay.com.

The camera powers up and works almost perfectly the only problem the donator who gave this to me said there was something wrong with the display and drove off.
I did some research on google.com and come to realize that sony had put a faulty CCD image sensor chip inside the camera.

Please I'm begging for help does anyone know where I can find the a new ccd sensor chip online ?
Times are tough for everybody and I can't afford to spend a 100 bucks on the chip or give sony 200 dollars to make a 20 minute repair and then send it back within a month...

Also I can repair the camera myself as I have fixed a couple of kodaks and 2 mini dv camcorders that had display problems and they were easily fixed with new parts, one hour and a silent day with no disturbance.

If anyone KNOWS anything please don't hesitate to reply...

This was 1 of the many models that had a defective epoxy CCD chip.

You have until 3/31/09 to get this repaired for free plus $15 for S&H - see link below:

Thank you for the information, will sony accept virtual credit card from paypal ? the money will come from my paypal balance.

I would give them my visa check card, but last year I have had someone find my visa check card and made over 600 dollars worth of purchases and I almost got my account closed because of the unknown SOB that hacked my account...

Thats why I cannot use any CC or debit cards online with people I don't even know.

See if there is an authorized repair depot nearby. I had the problem occur with a Sony Camcorder. There was an authorized Sony repair depot about 5 minutes from my home. I just took in the camera and it was repaired free of charge in about a week. No credit card needed.
