  1. I've just bought an Avermedia Avertv card and it seems to work fine but the captures are grainy. As soon as I press the record button the picture quality goes from tv standard to a little grainy and when I stop the recording it goes away again. Is this just a fact of life that when capturing or does it mean there's interference somewhere.

    Hi
What video profile are u using. ?? Capture at high bitrates then encode with TMGEnc. I have this card too. I have made my own custom profile Mpeg2 6000 bitrate 640x480 It captures fine.

    Cheers

  3. I guess I'm spoiled with all the dvd rips going about, just played a few music video clips I'd downloaded previously and my quality isn't much worse in comparison. Maybe I'm just looking for perfection in a relatively inexpensive card.

Use a composite connection and the picture will improve vastly.
