So even on a site like this with people who are well schooled in the world of video I have seen Bluray spelled BLUERAY countless times.

Do you think sony should just give up and rename it to BLUE RAY? I mean when techno geeks misspell it what do you think the rest of the public does to it? Those that actually know what bluray is that is....

I"m just throwing something out there.

FYI I'm not talking about DROPPING bluray altogether. Just a spelling change

No - they should keep the name Blu-Ray, but I would like more settings - like Kill and Vaporize

I love "blue ray CD" the most. Or "a DVD CD" is still good, too.

I didn't like the drop of the "e", or even the hypen, when first seeing the name years ago. But I did get used to it, so today it would be the "blue ray" or "blue-ray" or "blueray" spelling that would now be awkward if changed.

And yes, I find it annoying, even today, how so many people still spell it with the "e".

Here's a goal for Sony: Educate the public on the proper spelling. If everybody spells it right it's an indication that the product is successful, or the product gets successful when all have tuned in to its quirks, such as its spelling. I actually believe this implication to be interchangeable and reversible.
I hate VHS. I always did.

As far as I've heard (correct me if I'm wrong) the reason for choosing "Blu-Ray" as opposed to "Blue-Ray" was because Sony could copyright/trademark the former and not the latter.
