  1. This is a complete mystery to me, file one says it has same audio as file 2 but file 1 will not read audio in TMPG express, wjile file 2 will.

The only software that recognises the audio in file 1 is VLC player or mediaencoder, can somebody point me in the right direction?

  3. try converting to mpg with vob2mpg and try them as mpgs. if it still won't play, try demuxing and using ac3fix on the audio. then remux back together.

  4. In essence I have a solution for what I need to do, convert to divx.xvid, as mediaencoder is doing it, but it just baffles me why that software can read the sound and VCL can but TMPG cannot, nor can autogk or avidemux.

    Any help is much appreciated.

There may be a flaw or break in the ac3 stream. VLC may tolerate or make corrections for the error, while the other software snags on it.

  6. I only used TMPG to demux in the past, as that cannot see the audio, any other suggestions.

Try PgcDemux if TMPGEnc's MPEG Tools won't do it.

  8. To add to what filmboss80 said , sometimes this happens if the sequence at the beginning is damaged.

Sometimes you maybe able to repair with videoredo quickstream fix, or cut off the beginning few frames until you get a clean I-frame

To demux, another option is DGIndex
