  1. I use TMPGEnc to make a DVD.
Input files are X.VOB and Y.MPG.
The program refuses to accept both because the audio format is not same. X is AC3, Y is mpeg1 layer 2.
    Any help is appreciated.

Both files have to be the same, video and audio format. VOB is not exactly MPG, but if those are accepted, most likely TMPGEnc will convert them to VOB after.
As for audio, you will have to demux it with something lie PgcDemux, convert to ac3 (Bee Sweet) and remux (Muxman).

VOB2MPG might be able to convert your VOB to MPEG-2, which you can then demux with various tools. TMPGenc can demux MPEG-2 streams. There are other programs as well. The MPEGVCR editor (not freeware) can also demux.

If you give an authoring program two files that are truly DVD compliant, they will be accepted. This includes even if one only has Dolby Digital audio and the other only has MPEG audio. If TMPGenc complains, there are other reasons.
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".

You can't add both clips to same track/vts but just make a new track for each clip in tmpgenc dvd author(?) and it should work fine.
