    The Firewire on my Sony D8 Handycam suddenly stopped working. I have two computers that both have IEEE. Both cannot capture.

    Before sending the camcorder in for repair, I’m aware it could be my cable. Before purchasing one, has anybody else had this same problem and it turned out to be the cable?

    On 2-4-09 edDV suggested to remove the battery for a long period then replace it to force a firmware reboot. Unfortunately, this did not fix it.

    Do you or anyone you know have another D8/DV camcorder that you can try with your cable and PC?

    I tried to do that a while ago, got it all set up, but the guy was a no-show. So, your answer is "no." Maybe there is somebody else I haven't thought of.
