    Hi all
I know i've asked this before but I really need some help here.
I would like to backup my HD-DVD's collection so that I can play these on my BluRay player.
I want to use any free software out there
I've tried DVDFab but it always come up with an "error, please clean disc", I'm using an Xbox360 HD-DVD usb drive connected to my laptop.
I know you can backup to AVCHD using DVDR's, dont mind using dual layer disc as I would like to keep the best quality possible (1080p 5.1 sound)
Just tried DumpHD but nothing really happen's.
OH, and I'm not a wizkid when it come's to PC's, so I really needs help for dummies.
    Thanks guy's

My first suggestion would be to be sure that you can actually see the HD DVD when you put it in the drive. What you are reporting makes me wonder if your PC has the correct drivers or not. If you can put an HD DVD in the drive and then see the directory contents, let us know. If not, you probably need to install the UDFreader program. If you simply plugged the HD DVD drive into your laptop and it runs XP, it won't work without special drivers. Install the program I mentioned and see if that makes DVDFab or DumpHD work.

Well, it's good to know that you can see the contents of the discs. We know that your device works properly.

As far as your other questions go, I can't answer them as I have never tried to rip an HD DVD. Perhaps someone else can take it from here.

I have successfully ripped hd-dvds with my xbox 360 hddvd drive. However I use the payware ANYDVD HD to do it. It can rip both hd-dvd AND bluray.

You may need to use AnyDVD. DumpHD says it doesn't work with all HD DVDs. A quick look at DVDFab suggests that it may not support HD DVD. I'm not sure.
