black screen, stop and crash

i've imported a DVD of my own recording into Vegas...but when i drag it onto the timeline and play thru, eventually the screen will turn black and only sound will remain...but if i try to stop it, Vegas will crash

any idea what's wrong?

btw, is there any way i can extract the mpeg-2 files from a vob, without re-encoding it, to import into Vegas?

i've tried to import vobs, but they usually end up being only one segment long...

I don't know about Vegas, but you can use VOB2MPG to extract the VOBs from a DVD to one large MPG. Or DVD Decrypter.
