I am looking to up grade my system and need suggestion for a new motherboard for an Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Processor. I am currently running Intel Core 2 Duo e8400 3.0 on a Gigabyte EP45-Extreme with 4gb of ?1333 and a Dark Night Radeon EAH4870 1G. Any suggestion on a motherboard that would run a Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Processor and the rest of my components would be helpful.

We seem to like Gigabyte Motherboards around here. Why not the same motherboard as you currently have ?

The North Bridge will not handle the E8600 Processor on my current motherboard. I was hoping someone might be currently running an E8600 on a motherboard they are happy with and could recommend. This is my first one I had built and first upgrade, trying to learn more as I go. I only know the suggested motherboard that was sold with the E8600, But the reviews on the motherboard were not very good and I don't know enough to about motherboards to get everything I need without having to change other componets.

Intel says the E8600 runs on the P45 chipset and Gigabyte say the Gigabyte EP45-Extreme supports the E8600 CPU.

Thank you for the help. I looked at the same information
"Intel says the E8600 runs on the P45 chipset and Gigabyte say the Gigabyte EP45-Extreme supports the E8600 CPU"
This is why I went ahead and bought the e8600 and had a friend install it. After it was installed we only got the blue screen and went black. we found out the North bridge needed 2 more volts to run the e8600. Could this be right? Or is something else wrong in installing it? -
I don't think so, that's a typo. The NB would run at 5V max, more likely ~1 - 2 volts, same as the CPU, AFAIK. Some MBs have the capability of manually adjusting the NB voltage by a couple of tenths of a volt.
Did you update the BIOS before installing the CPU, or at least make sure it's compatible with the CPU?
