hey guys i have a question about making a file smaller but keeping it in the same format...

i have a .mkv file with .h264 720p video and 5.1 ac3 audio, i want to burn it to disk but the file size is a little bit bigger then the capacity of DL dvdr. ive down mixed the audio to 2.0 ac3 192kbps but it still too big is there a way to shrink the .h264 video stream by a few hundred meg without going through a complete re encode? and what is the best method to do it?

    thanks
