Computer keeps locking when encoding?????HELP

As of late my computer keeps locking-up when I encode a video(DivX to Mpg with TMPEG).

This is the only time it locks, doesnt lock when I de-multimlex(TMPEG),doesnt lock when I multiplex/cut(bbmpeg). Only when I encode.

Any idea what I can do to track down this problem???

Thanx but its my computer thats freezing, like to mouse...cant ctrl+alt+del

Try disabling ACPI (power management) and screen savers when you are encoding. I used to have some problems like that too and found that this helped. Just turn off your screen and walk away.
It would not happen when muxing/demuxing/cutting due to the fact that encoding is a much longer process.
