Is it possible to rip a mp3 from a dvd because I have a dvd with music videos on it and wanted to rip the songs from the dvd to burn on a cd.

yes...the tools department should have everything you need for free
rip dvd to HDD, demux (separate the audio), then burn with deepburner for an audio cd

Yes. I would just use a dvd to avi converter like ImToo DVD to avi to convert the DVD to an avi file. With ImToo you can choose the target profile as "audio mp3" the output will be audio in mp3. I would up the bitrate on the audio to 256 kbs or higher when converting.
ImToo has a free trial, I don't know what the restrictions are. -
You can use a tool like dvdaudioextractor (http://www.castudio.org/dvdaudioextractor/) or dvd audio ripper (http://www.imtoo.com/dvd-audio-ripper.html) to do this.
