  1. I have downloaded a number of Apple movie trailers some of which state they have 5.1 sound. I want to play the movies as part of an intro on my PS3 and retain the 5.1 surround. How can I either extract the AC3 from the .mov file or convert to m2ts and retain it that way?

I guess the audio is in aac 5.1 and not any ac3. If the ps3 supports aac 5.1 you can try remultiplex the mov to mp4 using Quicktime Pro or the free avidemux(use copy for audio and video) and save as mp4. If that wont work on your ps3 you can always reconvert using xvid4psp.

  3. Many thanks for the input Quicktime pro does not appear to maintain the 5.1 and avidemux gives errors.

However I came across SUPER which appears to maintain the 5.1 and converts to M2TS, however when I then use that file (converted by SUPER) as an input to tsmuxer to join a number together tsmuxer fails.

I resolved the issue by taking the output of SUPER into Sony Vegas and using that to create a new M2TS file (Sony Vegas would error on the original) which TSMuxer now works ok on.

It appears that Sony Vegas, Super and TSMuxer all have slightly different interpretations of what a M2TS should look like. But I found a way through albeit somewhat convulated. Steve
