Can someone recommend a good Registry Cleaner for Window Vista Ultimate 64 bit. They seem hard to find. Some of them advertise Vista ready but won't work on the 64 bit.

If you think registry cleaners are a waste of time how do you prevent your registry from becoming bloated with:

    1. Leftovers when uninstalling software
    2. Malware caused by the badboys
    3. Viruses caused by the badboys.
    5. Trojans caused by the badboys.
    6. etc

The registry is a database and will never grow smaller on its own.
After a good cleaning the registry should be compacted. This will give you back some harddrive space and speedup overall activity.(short answer)

Never run into 2-5 on my system. Though people complain about Norton being a resource hog it has always served me well avoiding trash like that. As for #1 I generally don't install rubbish that leaves leftovers behind that aren't part of an upgrade. I also tend to check for stray entries after uninstall. Once you know your way around the registry it isn't too hard.

I used to edit my registry after uninstalling programs, but that can be a pain searching all the keys........

Regcleanr is an old app that seams to work well on my Vista Ultimate 64. I've only been using it for a few days though.........
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........
