I burned a DVD in MythArchive (MythDora 4) which uses dvdauthor. Everything worked great except for one small issue.

The following applies to a completed DVD, burned in MD4, removed from the computer, and played on a standalone DVD player:

When I have more than one choice available in the DVD menu, the highlight (selection indicator) does not move when the arrow buttons on the remote are pressed. When I press the Enter button, the highlight will jump to the selection and play the recording. What I'm trying to say is: The arrow buttons on the remote are working. They are scrolling through the menu choices as expected, but the *highlight* does not move until the Enter button is pressed.

I have searched other forums and believe this is related to a program in dvdauthor called spumux, which creates the DVD menus, though I haven't seen anyone address this particular issue. Couldn't find anything in the mythtv MythArchive forum.

Has anyone out there run into this? Is there a fix? Thanks.

The issue you describe, highlight not moving with arrow presses, works fine for me using ToVid, and DVDStyler.

I'd look for updates to MythDora, and compare current versions of mytharchive to the one present in Mythdora.

MythDora 5.0 came out in April 2008. I'd assume 4.0 is rather old. It (4.0) also uses mythtv 0.20.1, where the current version is 0.21.

One of the bug fixes for mytharchive which could be related to your issue.
Fixed font problem causing the DVD menus to have missing text elements.

This is very possibly an spumux issue. It could also be a gimp issue if Mythdora uses gimp to create the highlights and selects.

I don't use Mythdora personally, I use dvdauthorgui, which is a windows front-end for windows ports of gimp, mplex, spumux, and dvdauthor. dvdauthorgui sets up batch files containing the commands necessary to mux video, audio, and subtitles, create simple graphics for the menus, and then author it all into a dvd. If Mythdora does the same thing, you might investigate the batch files and run the commands in there one at a time, checking the output to make sure it makes sense before moving on to the next step.

Just a crazy technical thought from a crazy techie...
