  1. Replay Media Catcher ?

Is it worth the money or is there a better pay or free program out there?

In my experience Replay Media Catcher does what it advertises. Whether it's the right tool for your needs or not I can't say. You can try RMC on the content you want to capture for free. Although the trial only downloads 70%, you'll be able to tell if it will work for you.

I would use RMC! I've used Orbit LOTSA times to capture almost anything! I was downloading Jay Leno monologues from nbc.com with Orbit, until a few months ago. I think Orbit's luck has run out, because nbc.com and other sites are savvy to them, and are using better protection schemes for their video content.

RMC DOES download jay leno monologues, as well as MOST other stuff i've tried. Even though i only have the trail version, which captures only 70% of video content you are trying to get, i will definitely buy it soon.

Interestingly enough, people are still using orbit downloader. Orbit is still releasing updates to the software, too. It's good for Youtube stuff, but for the protected content, it's a no go.

Orbit never works well, not for me. Replay Media Catcher has only failed on me once in the past 2 years.

  7. Realplayer does it very nicely, if you need audio in a different format you could use an audio software to record while it is playing.

DVD player hacks allow consumers to play legally purchased media that would otherwise be blocked because Hollywood doesn't want to you see it. Should Hollywood be able to prevent me from playing legally purchased region 3 DVDs of movies that will NEVER be released in region 1 by anyone? Should Hollywood be able to prevent region 2 customers from playing legally purchased region 1 DVDs of movies that either won't be released in their region or will only be released in inferior versions? I don't think so. Hacking a DVD player does not result in lost money for anyone.

Cracking commercial software is completely different. You are depriving the maker of the software from money. I would hope that you would understand the difference.
