I have some WMV files I'm trying to turn in to a DVD using convertxtodvd
I've used the recommended settings of medium, etc and not really changed anything from the default. However the audio comes out on them pretty bad. There is a lot of garbage in the audio and its pretty terrible to listen to. Listening to the WMVs is perfectly fine. I've tried twice now and before I blow another DVD, I wonder if anyone else has run into this trouble or a setting I can try to change that might make the audio better.

  2. Is your convertxtodvd version up to date?

You don't have to burn the dvd; check playing it on the PC before wasting a disc

sorry so slow for getting back here. Yeah its up to date. I played the file in MPC and the sound was fine, after burning it has the same problem. I suppose it could be the drive, but I've never noticed a problem with other DVDs.

Have you tried these files in the newer DVD players like the Pioneer that will accept WMV files? Might be better in the long run than converting, especially if you start to acquire a lot of them....

No, I don't have any access to anything like this. This actually a DVD I'm putting together for someone, I have no idea what they have for a DVD player, so I'm just making a standard DVD.

  6. Have you tried other DVD conversion suites (AVStoDVD, FAVC) to check if the problem is in your WMV or in ConvertX?

actually on the last attempt I played it from the hard drive and it appears to be a problem with my dvd drive. It sounded fine on the hard drive. I've never had a problem with other DVDs sounding strange... I've burned it and given it to my friend I'll see if it sounds okay as I didn't have a DVD player to test it on.
