    Hi,

My friend is a boxer and wants a compilation dvd put together for him, he has given me 4 DVD discs with him on and i have ripped off the 4 discs all the best bits. Whats the best way to put all the Vob files off the 4 DVD discs together to make one file on a DVD? I want it to be just one file rather than having chapters where you have to select each part.

    Cheers

You can use DVD Shrink in the reauthoring part to join vobs from dvds to one, see http://www.dvdshrink.info/compilation.php

But if you want menus and such you must use an authoring software like TMPgenc DVD Author, it can import from other DVDs. Or try free authoring programs like guifordvdauthor, dvd styler.

    Hi again,

just followed the provided instructions thanks for that, now the final bit is the audio, what the best program to use to add audio in certain places and make the volume fade at certain points? Cheers.

Use an advanced editor like Mpeg Video Wizard. It can import dvd vobs directly.

If you want to use free tools you must demultiplex the audio from the vobs(pgcdemux, vobedit), edit the audio(audacity), and then author a new dvd from the audio files(gui for dvd author).

Another option is to use VOB2MPG to convert to mpeg files, and then an mpeg editor to cut and fit as desired. I personally would just pull into Mpeg Video Wizard DVD, which allows an audio timeline, including a sound line editor on the video files too. Then it can author a simple DVD structure too.

I admit my bias, and lack of knowledge in other audio editing possibilities--Baldrick and other's advice might be better.
