I bought this wide screen TV a while back it is 42" i think!
    It's made by AWA.
It had a problem where the screen wouldnt go on, like the power went thorugh because i got all the lights on the panel but it never showed a picture it was only a faint backlight and nothing would change no matter what buttons were pressed.
For some reason we couldn't get it repaired but i'm not 100% hwy it couldn't be but all i know as that it couldn't be..it was probably the price!
Have you lot got any idea what the problem could be here and how i would fix the issue?

    Thanks very much.

I would simply contact your local AWA certified repair center. They will likely charge you to look at it (unless it is under warranty, but that cost should apply to the repair cost), but they will also tell you what is wrong with the unit and whether or not it can be repaired.

From your description, it sounds like the florescent backlight isn't working or has failed. Unfortunately, hard to tell which. Replacing the backlight may fix it or there may be other problems. But if you were getting a faint backlight, you should have seen a picture or menu.

The cost of repairs may be fairly high. Even to have them look at the set may be pricey. But you could check.

Could be backlight or the inverter which converts DC to AC. I suggest you replace both if you want to DIY.
