Hi, ive been transfering some old VHS tapes to my PC as avi files via my digtal camcorder.
What I need now is some editing software (free or paid for) for the avi files, mainly to cut out adverts etc.
I dont like windows movie maker. I did quite like Cyberlink Power Director which is on my Pc but when I went to use the Multi trim function it said I had to upgrade which I could do I suppose.
I have Virtual dub which I have used before & liked but when I imported my recent avi I had no sound ??![]()
Is there any program which anyone could recommend, by the way i'm running Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
Many Thanks in advance
Paul

DV-AVI files? Or what kind of avi files(video and audio codec)?
Virtualdub or AVIDemux would I use to cut out commercials. Just select the commercials and press delete. And save as new AVI. -
Its an avi file. Avidemux will not open it! I have just tried. The file plays & sounds fine when opened normally.
In virtual Dub there is no sound.
I have just used g spot. the video codec says dvsd = STATUS codecs are installed.
In the audio codec space it dosent say anything but under STATUS it says codecs installed
It is an avi file from a vhs tape, I have used my Digital camcorder as a pass through to convert it to digital -
Ok Windows movie maker which I used to capture it done somehing to the audio codec so I couldn't open in Virtual dub etc.
I now re captured using virtual dub & g spot is showing an audio codec. I can now ropen in Virtual dub etc.
