I recently bought my notebook and it came with Windows Vista. I was wondering if anyone could help me with locating software that will let me create my own DVDs from video files I have? On my desktop I have Nero, but the one I have doesn't work with Vista and the current program on my Vista, MyDVD Basic v9, won't let me add my video files.

Most tools that work for XP also work for Vista. svcd2dvd is one of them, but I'm sure there are more.
As always, you'll need the right codec installed to decode your source files. Use GSpot to determine which you need, download and install the latest build.

I don't like Vista ( Windows Me II ), but a important issue that may give warnings and crashes is UAC activated

Disable UAC and/or run a application as a Administrator to avoid that common errors
