Hello, have a Gateway DX4200-09 64 bit Vista PC and had bought Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate and the software is unable to see my camcorder in Studio 12 Vista 64 My Cam is a Canon VIXIA HV30 a HDDVD Tape cam anyway's the softawre is unable to see the cam using firewire and have contacted Pinnacle support and it seems that they are at a loss like I am, have been unable to capture zip. Have downloaded the following trial softwares, Adobe Premiere element and Cyberling Pro and they also have been unable to capture my home movies have even bought a new fire wire cable and the same results.

Took my PC to BB and they checked it out and found nothing with the hardware that was defective, my PC specs are OK with the software requirements and yet getting nowhere.

I am at a against a wall, it might be that a 64 bit Vista is unable to capture my Camcorder for some reason or another?

Any suggestion from you guy's would be apprteciated.

    Thanks
    Ralph

Try HDV capture with HDVsplit instead, then import the resulting m2t file into Studio12.

Make sure the IEEE 1394 host controller shows up in Device Manager.

Also make sure the HV30 is switched to HDV 1080i output mode. If you switch it to DV 480i mode, try WinDV for capture.

  3. There have been a number of reports of HDV cams - particular Canon HV series - not working with Vista 64. They work in DV mode and in other versions of Windows on the same hardware.

Here's a long thread that should provide you with some things to test/confirm:

    Right camera, wrong OS.

    32bit XP/Visa works fine.

  7. It will definitely work. I regularly switch to and fro between XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64. I can capture from any and use them on the others.
